Yoga Students Eat Better

Western science demonstrates something yogis have known for centuries:
Regular yoga practice is associated with mindful eating, and people who eat mindfully are less likely to be obese, according to a study led by researchers at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
People who practice yoga regularly are more 'mindful' eaters, according to this study. 'Mindful eaters' is an invented term which means aware of what they eat. It took Western science only a few thousands of years to discover the obvious, but it's nice they have come around.

Among many, many other benefits, yoga makes the practitioner aware of themselves, thier bodies and their thoughts. Being self aware increases the likelihood that the practitioner wants to appreciate and enjoy life. This, in turn, involves good eating. Whether consuming a diet of expensive food or of simple food, a follower of yoga maximizes healthy practices.

Since toga did not originate in the West, I guess there is a need for studies such as this to convince Westerners that yoga has benefits which they can use. I find this study silly and redundant. But some people need studies such as this before they can take the next step--practicing yoga. Oh, well, if that's the meaning of this study, that's OK.
